Progression of Periodontitis by Tooth TypeDevelopment of PerioPerio

PIOX-Nippon Medica Co., Ltd. was founded in Yamanashi on December 14, 1991.

Periodontal disease, one of the two major dental diseases, was once commonly referred to as pyorrhea. At that time, the standard treatment in Japan was to extract teeth that became loose and wobbly and replace them with dentures.

Amidst this, our company was established with the purpose of editing and publishing an educational booklet, “Perio Club,” to raise awareness that natural teeth could be preserved through periodontal treatment.

Since then, we have focused on improving periodontal treatment methods. This included presenting at academic conferences, publishing peer-reviewed scientific papers, and obtaining patents related to periodontal disease assessment methods. In 2016, after receiving ethical review approval from the Japanese Society of Clinical Periodontology, we conducted a five-year clinical study.

Using data obtained from this research, we developed the periodontal disease progression assessment app “PerioPerio”. In 2021, with the release of “PerioPerio,” we established a new app division, PIOX, within our company to handle its sales.
